Iīm engaged to an American and weīre having a tough time making heads or tails of all the information thatīs being thrown at us from websites and from other people.

A lot of people are saying that itīs going to be close to impossible for us to obtain a way for him to be here with me for good...or that itīs going to take forever and cost us a fortune.

We donīt know what steps to take, and we have no idea what to do. Can anyone just break it down in plain and simple english for us about the best route to take?

After you are married, you would simply apply for him as your spouse. It doesnt cost that much....maybe about 1500, and could take a while to be processed. When I sponsored my husband it only took 9 mths, but I know of another couple that took 2 years. He would have to have a criminal check, medical etc... if there any issues with those, that would be opening a whole new can of worms. You should probably just go on the Canadian governement web-site and download/order the forms and take it step by step.
