I would really appreciate sharing similar experiences on below issue:

My family and I immigrated to Canada on October 2006, and as I had too many commitments at the time, I could only enter Canada for 1 month, I received my PR card and never entered the country afterwards.

Now my card expires this coming October 2010 (5 years validity), and I am planning to go to Canada to do my MBA on 2011. The question is: Is this PR card extendable? Can I ask for an extension of let's say 1 year until until my semester starts?
